The Tender Age                                                                                           

·         Review end of 5th grade assessment tests that were given in math and reading.  Identify deficiencies to work on the summer prior to 6th grade. 

·         If a foreign language is offered you should choose to take it (now thru college) 

·         Identify if your child is struggling and explore tutoring opportunities. 

·         Build core skills to prepare for 7th grade. 

·         Develop organization skills. 

·         Try new school activities to identify interests by playing a sport and joining varies school clubs. 

·         Begin to develop an understanding of career clusters. 

·         Take the Midwest Talent Test (Explore), to establish bench marks. 

The transition to sixth grade can be challenging because of all of the new changes physically, socially and academically.
